Well, first I need to recommend an excellent site: Build Your Own Arcade Controls. They have the best resources for the DIY'er - including a great forum! Thanks to all those who answered my questions....

CONTROLS:

The two joysticks are Happ Super's and the buttons are horizontal microswitch buttons. The spinner is a Oscar Controls Model 2.

The trackball is a 3" Happ Translucent Blue Highball with the cool Mounting Plate(which makes mounting VERY easy).

OK OK here are some pics of construction. I'll take some more of the inside when I find my digital camera....

I used a new shearing precision bit with my drill press to drill the holes, and my rotozip for the large holes for the spinner and trackball.

i just finished sealing it when I took this pic. the piece on the left is the speaker panel. Originally I thought of drilling holes for a fake speaker grill, but then decided to just cut 2 big holes and cover with 4" RadioCrap grills.

The control panel hinges on the front, so it opens away from the unit for maintenance while it's attached to the cab. It's held on really well by using simple clasps from lowes on either side of the back.
